Examine Yourself

"In our day it is not uncommon to hear statements like this: 'That person is a Christian, but he's lived his life in disobedience to God.' Impossible!

'I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.'

'That person has been a Christian for many years, but he's never grown.' Unthinkable!

'I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols...I will save you from all your uncleanness.'

When God 'begins a good work in us,' He will never rest until every idol comes down and all filthiness is cleansed from our lives! He is determined to 'be our God,' and He will share us with no other!"
-Charles Leiter, Justification and Regeneration

(Scripture references from Ezekiel 36:25-32)

I'm thankful that you picked up Charles' book. Do you have any thoughts on what you have read so far? Do you have any plans to write a full review on it?

Hi Garret,

I am over halfway done through the book and it is amazing. There is great encouragement for the believer and cautions for those that may be lukewarm. It is scripture intense, going in depth covering around 9 passages that talk about justification and regeneration.

I plan on picking up copies for friends and family for Christmas gifts. Definitely recommended. I may not write a full review (as I am not much of a reviewer) but I will likely post some more passages of the book and let it speak for itself.

May God bless you,
Philip

To add another thing...
There is a sense of the author writing specifically to the reader as if it were a personal letter. Many times he will say things like-

"Christian, rejoice! for 'there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,' Amen!"

I enjoy the personal way he writes and the interjections of praise that are common after key lines of Scripture. It reminds me a bit of Tozer from his book The Pursuit of God.

Philip,

Praise the Lord! It sounds like the book has really been a blessing to you, which I am extremely thankful for. I helped Charles out with the book a bit, so I read it several times through before it went to press. But each time through I was impressed all over again with how simple and yet profound the content is. The majority of the errors of modern-day "Christianity" are addressed by a proper understanding of justification and regeneration, so I'm thankful that the Lord is using the book in a small way towards that end.

Blessings brother,

gh

Given the truth of the first statement, the "lukewarm" are no cause for concern of any kind. God will not let the matter rest and therefore, no concern of yours.
